Curtis Briggs
Curtis Briggs was born in the USA and grew up in Germany. He comes from a family of artists on his mother's side: his grandparents were opera singers, his aunt was an actress and two of his uncles were film directors. After graduating from high school and university, he began his professional career at ZDF, followed by several years as an assistant director. At the same time, he organised concerts and tours and worked closely with the impresario Fritz Rau. This led to the first tours with Sting and Police. This was followed by a long-standing friendship with the composers of the Alan Parsons Project. Three albums were produced during this time. These experiences laid the foundations for an expansion of his creative abilities, interests and international projects. From the mid-1980s to the present day, the multi-talented Curtis Briggs has been artistically and creatively active as an author, songwriter, music producer, director, photographer and gallery owner. He was also a jury member at BAMBI and the DIVA AWARD entertainment prize for many years. At the same time, he founded ‘Artists For Nature’, an association of around 200 nationally and internationally renowned artists who put their art at the service of saving the rainforests. An art edition for the United Nations with Roy Lichtenstein, Christo, Bryan Ferry, Vicco von Bülow, Peter Ustinov and others as well as the worldwide success of the song ‘Yes We Can’ with stars such as Joe Cocker, Chaka Khan, Herbie Hancock, Jennifer Rush and Harold Faltermeyer provided the financial means to support rainforest projects worldwide. Other outstanding highlights were ‘The Living Planet Square’ for EXPO 2000 with Andre Heller and the UNICEF Eurovision TV Gala with Peter Ustinov. As a songwriter and producer, Briggs has created a large number of music productions and songs for feature films, TV programmes and commercials. Briggs also produced and wrote the song anthem for the American football team ‘The Munich Ravens’ with Grammy winner Michael Hass in 2023. The Colour of the Stars was written with co-author Stefan Lukschy and is his first novel.
