Brigitte Blobel
Brigitte Blobel was born in Hamburg in 1942. She was one of the most successful German authors. Brigitte Blobel wrote reports for many major magazines (Stern, Geo, Merian, Playboy, Harpers Bazaar) before switching to fiction. Her first novel Alsterblick became an instant bestseller, as did Der Ruf des Falken, Das kalte Land and many more. From 1998, she mainly wrote screenplays for TV films such as Der Herbst des Patriarchen (with Mario Adorf) and Almuth und Rita (with Senta Berger and Cornelia Froboess). Her novels for young people on topical subjects have won several awards and been translated into more than 20 languages. From 1999, she lived with her husband Wolfram Bickerich on Mallorca, where they grew wine and produced olive oil. But after many years, the couple moved back to Hamburg. Brigitte Blobel and Wolfram Bickerich died on 7 August 2024 at the age of 81.
